Summer Projects

Most of the last week has been taken up with this ...

and this ...

and a bit more of this ....

It's very hot now and the coolest place to be is on the beach.

However I have found a little time for hooky happiness...

I've finished the granny striped blanket for my boy's bed. I put this jaunty red edging on after I read a comment by Karin that everything looks better with a red edging. It seems she could be right!

I've started making granny squares for a granny square blanket. Squares don't make me hot and they are easy to carry around. It's all my usual favourite colours with the addition of red and bright pink. I want to use a red/pink edging so I want lots of those colours sprinkled through. Should have it finished by the time I come back from my holiday but I'm taking the book stash with me as well...

I'm off to Spain for 3 weeks this Saturday so Iwon't be around the blogs for a little while. I'll have a lot of catching up to do when I come back . See you soon-
"hasta luego" . xx

End of term

Hurray !!! School's finished for 8 weeks. I love summer holidays don't you? I don't know where or if I'm working in September, but I'll worry about that in September. For now we will be getting up late, going to the beach and enjoying the warm summer evenings.

What I'm thinking of now is sorting out my holiday stash. I need a book stash....

A wool stash ( I probably should have put that first) I'm going to make something with squares I think so it's not too hot to work and is easy to carry around.

And a magazine stash ...

I just got "Inside Crochet" today, apart from the lovely article by Sue Twins...

...there are some great patterns and look at these fab hooks- they are calling to me "order me on the net-it's ever so easy !" they say. I might have to buy them I think.

There must be some physcological reason why a stash makes me feel so happy and secure. It must be the knowledge that we can withstand a shortage(!) My Mum stashes soap and toothpaste so it may be genetic I fear.

Before I go today I want to show you Ursula's bunnies. She is very clever and makes them up as she goes along. I'm trying to persaude her to start a blog of her own but she says it's too hot! Don't worry I haven't given up. Don't you love their cute little carrots ??

Hope you have a holiday to enjoy soon!

Pink slippers

My flickr friend Room on the left sent me the link for these wonderful crochet slippers.

You can find the pattern here on the lovely goodknits blog.

They are so speedy to make, I made a pair last night watching tv. I think they need adorning with some crochet flowers ( this evenings project I think.) I adapted the pattern as my circle came out too flat and the slippers were not pointy at the front. Once I had sorted that they were a breeze. I'm fancying a stripy pair next...

It's ever so hot and humid here, so the stripy blanket has to wait for a day when it's a bit more breezy.I think another dozen rows should do it, or when the wool I have runs out whichever happens first.

I do actually do things that are not crochet related, well sometimes...
I had to go to my daughter's parents meeting today so I am currently glowing with pride. I know she is a lovely girl but it's nice to hear that other people think so too!
I'm off to a Spa in Spain on Saturday with my book club friends, complete relaxation with no husbands and no children. I love all those fluffy towels and bath robes and girls gossiping in the sauna .

I hope you have a great weekend and a chance for a little relax as well.

PS Don't forget only a few more days to enter my giveaway!!! I'm getting my mixing bowl ready for the names...
